Shutter speed is how long the sensor/film in the camera is exposed to light. How long the shutter stays open depends on how much light there will be in the picture.
The camera I used featured an option to alter the shutter speed, which either allows more or less light to enter the camera lens. Slow shutter speeds can be used for certain creative effects, and to emphasize aspects of a photo.
This picture was taken using slow shutter speed, which allowed more light to enter the lens and capture every motion within a given time period. This in turn creates an interesting and unique photo using the simplest objects.
